Blog # 13: Being for the benefit of Mr. Kite

During English class today we were assigned to listen to a wonderful song by the Beatles, Being for the benefit of Mr. Kite and contrast the song to the short clip we watched that played the song in the video, but differently.
We listened to the song first and then it was repeated a second time so we could grasp as much information from the song as possible. I heard several different types of music instruments, from drums to crashing cymbals, to other small instruments that made the entire melody of the song. This song was obviously about a circus and almost sounded like a marching band was playing behind the lead singer. John Lennon was the song writer of this song and a circus poster inspired him to write it. The “Mr. Kite” man is actually William Kite. This song really reminded me of a typical pink Floyd song, also known as a song to get “high” to.
The video clip we saw directly after listening to the song reminded me of exactly like a Tim Burton movie. The graphics were amazing and it was a trippy scene. I absolutely loved the video and I would say the video was better than the actual song by the Beatles. The video really let the song come alive. I could understand and comprehend better while watching the video.
The main difference between the song and the video was the tone. The video had a deeper tone than the original song. Also, the video was creepier sounding and more disturbing than the original song.
I really enjoyed listening to the original song and then incorporating the creepy video afterwards. I am a huge Beatles fan!
