Blog # 5: Tulsa, Oklahoma

Today is finally Friday! It has been a long, stressful week for me due to all the homework, quizzes, and of course working everyday! To take some tension off of my mind, my mother and I are heading to Tulsa, Oklahoma for the weekend to spend some time with my step dad at the extraordinary hotel he is staying at. The reason why he is in Tulsa is because Spirit Aerosystems sent him down there to train and manage employees. He has been there since the middle of January. He told us the hotel was absolutely amazing and I was heading down there to see if it was in fact so amazing.
My mother and I left Wichita at approximately 3:30 PM so we could arrive in Tulsa before it was too dark. I took my laptop with me so I could work on future homework assignments that included a personal reflection paper for my Men and Masculinities class and my narrative essay for my English class. Before we were even on the turnpike my stupid laptop died on me! I could have sworn on my life that it was fully charged so it could have lasted at least an hour or so. Instead of working on my dead laptop, I decided to catch up on some reading for my Men and Masculinities class. There is so much reading for that class and it is of course extremely small writing. 10 pages of reading seriously took me an hour to read!
I read for about an hour and a half and decided to close my book. My mom and I talked the rest of the way to Tulsa. We were talking mainly about the past and special memories we both shared with each other. Those special memories included; both trips to Hawaii, vacationing to Aruba, Dominican Republic, and the special wedding trip to the Bahamas. We also talked about when her, my dad and my oldest sister used to live in Frankfurt, Germany. I was amazed at how differently Germans lived than the Americans.
When we finally arrived in Tulsa, we struggled to find the Embassy Suites at which we were supposed to stay at. As we finally arrived, my step dad greeted us in the lobby. Before we carried our big luggage bags up to the fourth floor of our suite, my parents wanted to have some drinks at the bar. The hotel has a free happy hour for all of aged guest. It runs from 5:30-7:30 PM and it has unlimited amounts of alcohol. You could chose from beer, to wine, to even strong mixed drinks. As we sat in the lobby area for over an hour eating snack mix and drinking, we all wanted to eat some dinner. My mom and I were exhausted from the travel and we really didn’t want to go out to eat. We all ate at the delicious restaurant located inside the hotel. It was called “Cattleman’s Steakhouse.” We ordered two appetizers of shrimp cocktail and two identical meals of the Halibut fish. My mom and I shared the halibut fish dinner while my step dad was able to consume the entire dish. The halibut fish was to die for. It was better than any fish I have ever had on a Caribbean Island! It was very tender and juicy while having a hint of garlic and butter sauce. It was so tender you could take apart with your own fingers. The dinner was so massive that I wasn’t able to even finish my half of the portion. The dinner also came with an interesting salad that was half a head of lettuce with ranch dressing and tomatoes on it.
After dinner I was even more exhausted. I was so ready to crawl into that big warm bed in our huge suite. As I brushed my teeth and jumped into my silk leopard print jammies from Victoria secret, I laid onto that fluffy white bed, closed my eyes, and went into a very deep sleep.
