Blog # 2: 52 Annual Grammy Awards

Today is Tuesday and I don’t have class at all! Thank the lord for that! So usually on Tuesdays I try to get caught up on laundry, homework, and my DVR’d shows on television. Right now I am watching the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards.
The very first performance was Lady Gaga; I am a huge fan of hers and I never know what to expect of her when she performs her amazing songs live. She wore this green metallic leotard with sparkly green angel wings. She performed her most famous song, “Pokerface.” Then right after she performed Lady Gaga and Elton John sang a duet and played the piano. They did an amazing job together. Elton John is very famous for his piano playing and he is actually coming to Wichita with Billy Joel this coming spring in the new Intrust Bank Arena. That is exciting, but not something I really want to attend.
After the performance of Lady Gaga and Elton John a man appeared on stage that I have never seen before. He almost resembled Bob Saget due to being tall and lanky. He started cracking jokes and trying to be funny but I thought he was kind of being rude. He mentioned that Justin Timberlake brought “sexy back” and then he commented on how Susan Boyle would take it away again. I thought that was so rude! He was basically telling national television that Susan Boyle wasn’t exactly sexy. Then this not so funny man kept asking his daughter who was in the audience if he was “cool.” She shook her head no because I think he embarrassed her. He then shouted out to his daughter to stay away from Katie Perry. Wow, really? I personally think this man made himself look like a complete fool on stage. The absolute only thing that was funny that came out of that ignorant man was he said “I love about the Grammies that you never know who they are going to put together (referring back to Lady Gaga and Elton John), I can’t wait to see what combinations we are going to get tonight; Neil Young and Pulso de Mingo, maybe Beyonce and Sasha Fierce, or what about Pink, Green Day, and the Black eyed peas? The pink-eyed green peas.” That was the only reference he made that actually made me laugh.
The nominees for the song of the year were as follows: Lady Gaga with “pokerface,” Maxwell with “pretty wings,” Beyonce with “single ladies,” Kings of Leon with “use somebody,” Taylor Swift with “you belong with me.” The Grammy went to Beyonce! I personally think Lady Gaga should have won because she has accomplished so much this past year.
The next performace that was in importance to me was Beyonce wearing a robotic outfit made from I believe either Gucci or Dolce and Gabbana. Her performace was amazing! Following her performance was Pink with an aerial performance. I can’t exactly remember the song, but I do remember the crazy stunts she performed. She was dressed in a very revealing white outfit. She dangled from a thin piece of cloth from the ceiling. If she would have fallen she would have died instantly because she was very high off the ground and spinning like crazy. It was a very neat performace and something I wouldn’t have expected for the Grammies. The Grammies don’t allow you to lip sing any songs which was crazy because Pink was spinning like a top on a table up in the air and was able to sing her song just as well as if she was standing upwards.
The next Grammy award was record of the year; the nominees were “halo” by Beyonce, “I got a feeling” by the Black Eyed Peas, “Use somebody” by Kings of Leon, “Pokerface” by Lady Gaga, and “You belong with me” by Taylor Swift. The Grammy went to Kings of Leon. That record was very good but I would have guessed either Lady Gaga or the Black Eyed Peas to take home the Grammy.
There are still about 2 hours left in this amazing and fulfilled show. Jamie Foxx is singing “blame it” on stage right now. That is one of my favorite songs from last year. I am going to focus on watching it and get back to blogging tomorrow.
