My uncle William Eugene Martin passed away peacefully and joined all of the angels in the heavens sky on Wednesday February 23, 2010. He died from what is believed an apparent heart attack.
William Eugene Martin was born on February 11, 1956 to Elaine and Eugene Martin. William (Bill) was the oldest of six children. His whole family is from Conway Springs, Kansas. Bill has been survived by his Mother and Father of Viola, Kansas, Brett Martin of Conway Springs, Kansas, Robert Martin of Wellington, Kansas, Janet Kibbe of Conway Springs, Kansas, Janice Roth of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and his two sons Darren and Kyle Martin both of Conway Springs, Kansas. Bill is joining his sister, Jeanna in heaven with the lord Jesus Christ.
My father, Robert Martin called me at approximately 6:25 in the evening of Wednesday February 23, 2010. He informed me that he was on his way to Wichita. I thought that seemed strange because he never goes up to Wichita in the middle of the evening. He has some discomfort in his voice which led me to believe that something has happened. I asked my father if everything was alright or not. He replied by saying “they think Bill has died.” I said in a high voice “What do you mean?” He told me that he received a phone call from my grandma that she found my uncle lying on the floor of his garage at his Conway Springs home. She immediately called the ambulance for help. The paramedics came to the house and they were unable to revive him. I told my father that as soon as he arrived at St. Francis to let me know if my uncle was okay. I received a message via text message from my father at exactly 7:10 in the evening. It said “Bill did not make it, no need for you girls to come to the hospital.” I could tell in his text that he was extremely upset. The first thing I thought was my poor grandma is now going to have to bury two of her children. No parent should have to go though what my grandma is going through. I hate seeing my dad and grandma so upset, it just breaks my heart apart. Nothing is worse than seeing people you care so deeply about upset and sad.
After I received the dreadful text message from my father, I immediately called my boyfriend for some comfort. I was extremely upset by the loss of my uncle because he was such an amazing person inside and out. He always came to my personal events such as, my birthday parties and graduation parties. I wasn’t exactly close to him, but over the last couple of years I have grown to know him.
After he had his leg surgery a couple of years ago he became a very outgoing person and very fun to be around. I am truly saddened over the loss of my uncle. However, I truly think God throws challenges at us because he knows that we will overcome the grief and become stronger in the end. Everything happens for a reason, but unfortunately something awful happened to my Uncle, Bill. I will never forget him.
